February

Two school events in quick succession:  first, Parents’ Evening, to review Jay’s progress, generally most satisfactory.  Secondly, the Pate’s Quiz and Mike once again joined our team.  After gradually improving our position over the last few years, we were finally lucky enough to win.  Teresa complained afterwards that the questions were rather male-oriented, but, if so, it worked in our favour, as Mike did brilliantly on three rounds which were basically geography; this opened up a winning lead, while we also more than held our own on books, music and sport.  The prizes were bottles of wine, so we were able to celebrate with one of those afterwards.

Helen was here the following weekend, and braved the cold to see Jay riding Clyde.  Half term week followed, giving Jay the opportunity for yet more riding.

Towards the end of the month, Roger remarked on the virtual lack of any winter weather.  As always, this was the signal for the recent spell of frost and snow, which continues as the month ends.
